Tight and square; spine is flat but shows a bit of texture due to glue shrinkage. Very little overall wear - mainly some age-darkening to top half of back cover. Age-tanning is less than average for its vintage. No stamps, marks or writing.

Edited by Frederik Pohl. Note that the magazine just got over 20% longer - adding 30 pages to each issue, compared to the 130 pages maintained through August 1965. This is the first of 3 consecutive years that IF wins the Hugo award for "best magazine" (in 1966, 1967 and 1968 - each for the previous year.) While no stories were nominated - note that 2 of the Hugo nominees for novel were serialized in IF this year.

Jack Gaughan did over a dozen black & white illustrations for the Laumer serial (about 5 per installment.) Gaughan put his name on the map with his portfolio of illustrations for Jack Vance's "The Dragon Masters" in the August 1962 issue of Galaxy. This set is comparable. With these illustrations, Gaughan is definitely "raising the bar" for the quality of art for IF, and he himself will go on to win 3 consecutive Hugos for "best professional artist" in 1967-69.
