GALAXY 1972,March

While the paperback-stock is much more durable - I think they also changed the paper stock at the same time: to a lesser quality which quickly goes to a moderate uniform tanning. My own copies look the same - you may not be able to do better (until mid-1975.) No stamps, marks or writing / some faint speckiing on the top page block only.

GALAXY Science Fiction: MARCH-April 1972 (Volume 32, Number 5)
All illustrations by Jack Gaughan. Cover by Jack Gaughan (for "The Gods Themselves.")

Serials: "The Gods Themselves" (Part 1 of 3) by Isaac Asimov (part 2 is in If April 1972. This won both Hugo and Nebula awards for "best novel")
"Dark Inferno" (Conclusion) by James White (book title was Lifeboat.)

Stories: "220 - Advanced Field Exploration" by W. Macfarlane
"Getting Together" by Milton A. Rothman
"The Hand" by Robert F. Young.

Ejler Jakobsson is editor, Judy-Lynn Benjamin is managing editor, Lester del Rey is feature editor, Jack Gaughan is Art Director.

Galaxy is now bound in paperback stock, making it incredibly durable (compared to most other magazines.) The crossover of the Asimov serial between Galaxy and If reflected that there was a short time limit before the hardcover came out, and not enough time for a 3-part serial in either bi-monthly magazine. (I'm not sure if this feat has been done anywhere else in a SF magazine.)
