Galaxy Science Fiction: August-September 1970 Volume 30, Number 5 Serial: "I Will Fear No Evil" (Part 2 of 4) by Robert A. Heinlein Novel: "The Day After Judgement" by James Blish (a direct sequel to Black Easter, picking up right after the announcement that God was dead…), Stories: "About a Secret Crocodile" by R. A. Lafferty Verse: "Coordinates" by Sonya Dorman After a year and a half of monthly appearance, Galaxy went bi-monthly for August-September and October-November, and resumed monthly production for December 1970 through April 1971 (but then went back to bimonthly for another 2 years.) Ejler Jakobsson took over as editor from Frederik Pohl with the July 1969 issue. Judy-Lynn Benjamin is Managing Editor; Book Reviews by Algis Budrys. Jack Gaughan is Associate Art Director. Gaughan's 13 illustrations for the 4 parts of the Heinlein serial demonstrate that he'd read the story closely, liked it, and could capture the spirit of it - even including mini portraits of major characters. |
