If you look at the alignment of the picture on the cover, you will notice it is slightly crooked (tilted down at right side) - and that the top and bottom edges are not cut square to the sides. An observable tilt of the text block can be noticed on most interior pages (tilted to left or right, depending on even or odd pages - look closely at Scan #3 and compare the distance from the top of the page to the print-block at left vs. right.) The margins are all 1/4" or more so no text is in danger of being lost - the text is just not printed perfectly square on the pages. Age tanning is a little more noticeable on this - about what I would consider average for this vintage.

Dean R. Koontz started out as a Science Fiction writer, but didn't find much recognition until he worked out the kind of tale he does best - a mixture of thriller, horror, and science fiction... then he became a best-selling author, and his early stories have become collectible. "Killerbot" was retitled "A Season for Freedom" when included in Koontz's first collection Soft Come the Dragons (1970, as half of an Ace Double.)
