GALAXY 1951,December

Tight and almost square / spine is flat with wear to top 1/2". Light overall wear - front cover has faint dirt buildup which gives is a matte or flat finish; back cover is glossy with little wear. The contents page has splash traces at right along with excessive age darkening, which becomes normal/average age tanning by page 10 - age tanning is average for a 60-year-old magazine for the rest of the issue. [Scan included of contents page.] Top and right page-block edges look darker and have some dots of spatter - not too surprising in a magazine this old.

GALAXY Science Fiction: December 1951 (Volume 3, Number 3)
Illustrations by Ed Emshwiller, Ed Alexander, Karl Rogers, Thorne, David Stone, Richard Powers (!) Cover by Ed Emshwiller (the first of several to feature his 4-armed Santa.)

Novella: "World Without Children" by Damon Knight

Novelettes: "With These Hands" by C. M. Kornbluth
"Pillar to Post" by John Wyndham

Stories: "A Pail of Air" by Fritz Leiber
"Winner Lose All" by Jack Vance
"Not a Creature was Stirring" by Dean Evans

Edited by H. L. Gold, book reviews by Groff Conklin. Galaxy is going strong after just 1 year- just look at the lineup of authors: a who's who of the acknowledged greats of the time. The Vance story "Winner Lose All" is only collected in his rare Lost Moons - I don't think there was an American paperback, but possibly a British one...
