J. A. Meyer's "The Mauki Chant" could be considered the basis or seed for Alan E. Nourse's 1962 novel Raiders from the Rings. The set-up is similar, and a Mauki (and her chant) appear in the novel. Meyer and Nourse collaborated on one novel (in 1959.)
