Slight upcurve at left side. Tight with 1/8" or less of tilt; flat spine has a little edgewear and wear at bottom end. Light wear next to spine more noticeable to touch than by eye (probably won't show in scan.) Age-tanning is average (or slightly less) for its vintage. |

Bretnor (1st of the "Papa Schimmelhorn" stories) Anthony Boucher & J. Francis McComas are Editors. Note the longer title, used for all later issues. F&SF was one of the "big 3" magazines of the Fifties along with Astounding and Galaxy - a leader in the field as soon as it appeared. It had its own character - a rather eclectic mix of fantasy & SF with an occasional reprint - all up to the standards of the Literary magazines that shaped the standards of modern short story writing. The first 4 issues were quarterly, then it was bimonthly until August 1952, then monthly… for 3+ decades. |
