The third book to feature Harold Shea. This is a "fix-up" based on 2 novellas: Chapters 1-6 are slightly revised from "Wall of Serpents" from Fantasy Fiction (1953), and Chapters 9 to 18 are slightly revised from "The Green Magician" which originally appeared in Beyond #9 (1954.) The Avalon hardcover came out in 1960, and the first paperback wasn't until 1979. Some later edition changed the title to The Enchanter Compleated, to match up with with The Compleat Enchanter - an omnibus edition containing the first 2 books in the series.
