Paper quality does not impress me (age tanning is moderate and uniform) - but if you want this in hardcover, all copies will be like this. This is as new/unread (I bought it remaindered 40 years ago after reading the paperback, and put it in a DJ protector when I bought some in the Eighties.)

Cooper was a British "midlist" author who produced over 2 dozen SF novels or collections - mostly in the Sixties and Seventies. This is one of a handful from the late Sixties that I think are his best - it would make a good starting point to see if you like him. [The others I recommend are All Fool's Day, Five to Twelve and Sea Horse in the Sky.]
