Possibly Bradbury's best-known novel - this 1967 SFBC hardcover (based on the 1967 Simon & Shuster hardcover) - is actually a collection which reprints the first edition: including 2 extra stories "The Playground" plus "And the Rock Cried Out" (both from 1953.) The title novel is based on "The Fireman" - a novella from Galaxy February 1951. Fahrenheit 451 first appeared in a simultaneous hardcover/paperback edition from Ballantine in 1953. Both of those were collections with the same contents as this, and there is a known 200 copy asbestos-bound reprint of the collection (in 1954?) British editions and (any?) later American paperbacks contained only the novel. | |||
