This second printing has a great cover by Dean Ellis - part of a matching set from this period. In my opinion, this is the best looking edition for this book.

Ballantine Books (#01663) 2nd printing July 1969 paperback. Cover by Dean Ellis, 154 pages, 75 cent cover price. Condition is VG+: tight and almost square with flat spine; age tanning is mild and uniform (average to decent for its age, and no darkening inside covers.) Light overall wear - mainly as a checkmark in pen below title (almost lost in the art), and rubbing/wear to back cover (see scans.) A few numbers/letters written at top right of first inside page - no stamps, marks or other writing.

ALTERNATING CURRENTS (1956) - an early collection of stories by Frederik Pohl. This was the first appearance in a Pohl collection for any of this set. Several of these appear in later collections, including 2 stories in The Best of Frederik Pohl - but 3 have not been re-collected.

Happy Birthday, Dear Jesus
The Ghost Maker
Let the Ants Try
Pythias
The Mapmakers
Rafferty's Reasons
Target One
Grandy Devil
The Tunnel Under the World
What to Do Til the Analyst Comes - (original title: "Everybody's Happy But Me!")

Original appearances from 1949 to 1955: most from Galaxy, plus Planet Stories, Beyond, Fantastic Universe, Imagination. "Happy Birthday, Dear Jesus" was original to the 1956 collection.
