Only Langax, the good and wise Emperor of the Iron Lands, stood between civilization and the hideous creatures of The Terrible East. Now Langax lay dying, growing ever weaker as the spell cast upon him grew more powerful. Unless they found the Dark Lady, breaker of evil spells, and ancient and honorable world would be plunged into oblivion. One man could find her - Wulf, the mighty bladesman, who feared not for his life because he was an accused traitor, with his life already forfeit…

There are 2 printings of this, both with covers by Jeff Jones. The cover for the first printing (1969) is full-span and an overall blue/gray tone. The Belmont/Tower (1976) second printing recycles art first used on Lin Carter's The Quest of Kadji (Belmont 1971.) The white background of the Carter book is changed to yellow for the second use.
