Ace Double (#81680, 1st printing, 75 cent cover price) July 1969 paperback. Condition is near-Fine: very tight and square with flat spine; age tanning is mild and uniform; very light overall wear including a 1" line at middle of right side of Jakes side that looks rather like a reader's crease (except that this looks unread.)

An Ace Double from 1969, containing Tonight We Steal the Stars, by John Jakes, bound with The Wagered World by Laurence M. Janifer & S. J. Treibich. Both books are original, with no previous (magazine) appearance.

Tonight We Steal the Stars by John Jakes - (173 pages, cover by Kelly Freas, frontispiece by Jack Gaughan.)
Theft of the Seven Stars is impossible, yet somewhere in II Galaxy there are hushed voices, and secretive eyes, and long dreams of the Seven Stars clasped within a closed hand. And somewhere else in II Galaxy there is a powerful and hulking man with golden eyes who could not even in the wildest drugdream conceive of his fate being tangled up with the Seven Stars. This burly man will begin a hunt to stop the most dangerous and daring crime in history - and he will end the hunt as one of those who make the impossible possible. His name is Wolf Dragonard. This is his adventure, in the ninth age of the star kings of II Galaxy.
[There are 2 other books in this loose series: When the Star Kings Die and The Planet Wizard.]

(bound with) The Wagered World by Laurence M. Janifer & S. J. Treibich - (cover and frontispiece by Jack Gaughan, 73 pages.) A sequel to Target: Terra and The High Hex. Last of the Angelo di Stefano series.
