ex-ChUSFA: stamp on first inside page, page 85. MORE INFO No artist credited, no visible signature. I think the cover art could be by James Fox - this work is consistent with several covers he did for Dell 1979-80 (but those all had signatures.) "First Dell printing - August 1979" paperback (Gnome Press hardcover was in 1952.) Cover by James Fox???, 380 pages, $2.25 cover price. Condition is VG+ to near-Fine: tight and square with flat spine; age tanning is mild and uniform; very light overall wear - this looks unread, with a little shelfwear. 2" non-yellowing library tape reinforcing spine (may not show in scans.) Stamp on first page and page 85 - from the reserves of a defunct SF library - no other marks or writing. | |||
JUDGEMENT NIGHT All of these originally appeared in Astounding, from 1943 to 1950. The title story was a 2-part serial, and the other 4 were all published as by "Lawrence O'Donnell" which may indicate some co-authorship with husband Henry Kuttner. None of these show up in any other collection by Kuttner/Moore. Dell Books at this period was notorious for not pushing their SF line, so this first complete paperback edition may be a bit rare. The only other paperback edition had just the title-story - in 1965. |
