Subtitled "The Annals of the Dinochrome Brigade," this collects all stories (as of 1976) that mention Laumer's intelligent fighting machines: the Bolos. Most of these match Laumer's "serious" mode (as opposed to his humorous "Retief" stories.)

These first appeared from 1960 to 1976 - in Analog (4), Worlds of Tomorrow, IF, The Magazine of F&SF. "A Short History of the Bolo Fighting Machines" appeared as the introduction to "Field Test" in Analog March 1976. These 2 are the only stories not reprinted from earlier Laumer collections - but the stories do come across differently when presented together.
