"The Eyes of the Green Lancer," "Destroyer of Illusions," "Pax Romana," "The Devils of Langenhagen" are original to this 1992 Australian book. The rest originally appeared from 1986 to 1991 - two in Magazine of F&SF, and one each in Eidolon, Omega Science Digest, Aurealis. "Pax Romana" and "The Deciad" were later revised/incorporated into the fix-up The Centurion's Empire (1998.)
