omnibus of THE STAR FRACTION (1995) + THE STONE CANAL (1996) + THE SKY ROAD (1999) - (a Hugo-nominee for "best novel" in 2001.) These did not see American publication until 2000/2001. | |||
I've read all of Ken MacLeod's "Fall Revolution" series - and I am quite impressed. These books are not sequential, or necessarily part of one timeline. As far as I can tell, MacLeod is playing riffs on some important future events and those involved in them - and exploring different outcomes with great zeal. His idea is that there are (will be) several "key" players that history will pivot about - but that worlds or outcomes will be vastly different, dependent on seemingly minor changes in set-up (kinda like weather.) MacLeod is smart, inventive, politcal - he won't bore you. For detailed plot summaries or analysis, here are some links I found when I did a search for reviews of this book. Ken MacLeod's TheStone Canal (1996) - nominally second in his "Fall Revolution" series. |
