Magic, Inc.
"-And He Built a Crooked House"
They-
Waldo
The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag
Our Fair City
"All You Zombies-"
The Man Who Traveled in Elephants

These stories originally appeared from 1942 to 1959 - in Unknown, Astounding, Saturn, Magazine of F&SF and Weird Tales.

Brief teaser or set-ups for the 3 short novels:

in "Magic, Inc." (originally titled "The Devil Makes the Law") - we get a fight against extortion in a world where magic works.

In "Waldo," magic creeps into our scientific world, and the crippled genius Waldo F. Jones is the only one who can figure what is going on.

"The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag" is about a man who cannot remember what he does during the daytime, and wonders if the grime under his fingernails is blood. He even hires a detective to trail him to find out, and runs afoul of the Sons of the Bird.

This book is an omnibus of WALDO & MAGIC, INC. (1950) + THE UNPLEASANT PROFESSION OF JONATHAN HOAG (1959.) No mention is made of this on flap copy, and the contents are mixed or scrambled - but nothing is left out or added to the combination of those 2 collections. Both of the source collections are very good - I highly recommend this combined edition (particularly if you want a nice durable copy that will stand up to multiple readings.)
