Burning Chrome, by William Gibson. A collection of "cyberpunk" stories. I strongly recommend this collection - particularly the collaborations with other stars of the Cyberpunk "movement." Some locales (Chiba City) and/or characters (Molly) in the Nebula-nominated stories "Johnny Mnemonic" and "Burning Chrome" - are common to the Hugo and Nebua winning novel Neuromancer and its loose sequels. "Dogfight" was nominated for both Hugo and Nebula awards (I voted for it.) "The Winter Market" was also a Hugo & Nebula nominee. (Preface by Bruce Sterling) These originally appeared from 1977 to 1985 - half from OMNI, the rest from Vancouver Magazine, Unearth, UNIVERSE 11 and SHADOWS 4. |
