This is a "fix-up" - parts of which are based on 2 pieces from Analog. Part 1, "Horseshoe Nails" is heavily revised from a 2-part serial "In the Country of the Blind" (1987 - certain events are unique to either version.) Part 2, "A Rose By Other Name" keeps the same title as a 1990 novelet - but over 100 pages of new material is added throughout. Part 3, "The Enemy of My Enemy" is new: more than 200 pages. Some events in the novelization are not in the same sequence as in the sources.
