Phoenix - (original title: "Phoenix Land")
Asleep: With Still Hands - (original title: "The Sleeper with Still Hands")
Santa Claus vs S.P.I.D.E.R.
Try a Dull Knife
The Pitll Pawob Division - (original title: "The Pawob Division")
The Place with No Name
White on White
Run for the Stars
Are You Listening? - (original title: "The Forces That Crush")
S.R.O.
Worlds to Kill
Shattered Like a Glass Goblin
A Boy and His Dog

3 of these were from 1957-58, the rest from 1968 or 1969 - originally in Galaxy, IF (4), Amazing (3), Knight, SF Adventures, Magazine of F&SF (3), Orbit 4. New to this book is a revision of a "A Boy and His Dog" (original version in New Worlds.)

"The Beast That Shouted Love at the Heart of the World" won the Hugo award (best Story), "A Boy and His Dog" won the Nebula award (best Novella) - and was a Hugo-nominee, "Shattered Like a Glass Goblin" was a Nebula-nominee. Given the short span that most of these were drawn from, this represented Ellison hitting his best form, when he was really noticed and awarded. I'll put in a plug for "Try a Dull Knife" as one that impressed me, and recommend the whole collection as one of Ellison's best.
