Make Believe (2009) - a retrospective or "best of" collection by Australian writer Terry Dowling. I would call this a "second generation" BEST OF, since it contains 8/13 of Antique Futures (1999) - his first "best of" collection. (Those other 5 stories can be found in another "recent" collection: Basic Black, from 2006.) The problem with collecting Terry Dowling is that most of his books were published by Australian publishers, or small-print-run U.S. editions. Which is a pity - since I've liked most everything I've read by Dowling. All of these stories have previously appeared in earlier collections by Dowling - from Australian publishers (only one of those had an American reprint.) I can recommend this as a good introduction to Dowling's work.

(Introduction by Simon Brown)
